Krav Maga Grading

Martial arts & self defence grading

Of course the goal of training in martial arts and Krav Maga self defence is to be able to defend ourselves and our loved ones in real life situations, not to pass gradings and gather certificates. But taking part in gradings can be an excellent way to keep track of your progress and also a way of setting short term goals for yourself that are easy to achieve.

As we teach the original Krav Maga, as taught by its Founder Imi Lichtenfeld and preserved by the international organization Krav Maga Global, we follow the KMG’s grading system which uses Levels instead of Belts.

The KMG grading system, unlike in other martial arts, uses levels instead of belts

Practitioner Level: P1 – P5,

The core of the system. Students learn defences against punches, kicks, headlocks, chokes and bear hugs. Also defences against weapons such as a knife and baseball bat are practiced.

Graduate Level: G1 – G5,

All techniques from the P1-P5 Level plus defences against more complicated attacks are practiced. These include attacks while being in a car, sitting on a chair in a pub and etc. Defending or disarming a handgun and a rifle is added.

Expert Level: E1 – E5,
All techniques from the P1-G5 plus additional training of fighting multiple aggressors and hostage situation scenarios are practiced.

This level corresponds with the traditional Black Belt level and it’s further degrees. These are usually high level Krav Maga instructors.
